Property Solicitors London
At Arc Property Solicitors we help people move into the London area every single day. London is not only the capital of our country but in some cases the capital of the world. It is at the forefront of fashion, music, art and film, and is a highly desirable place to live.
London has a truly extensive array of properties available. Whether its a studio flat in Hackney or a Kensington town house, there really is no limit in choice. Every day at Arc Property Solicitors we deal with clients moving into or around London and it seems its popularity will never diminish.
If you are new to the London area or simply require some inspiration on how best to spend your time in the capital, take a look at our guide of some of the popular places. We take a look at house prices within the popular London boroughs, things to do in London and we also take a look at how the Olympics are going to impact on the city.
Camden
Camden Town, situated in North London is well known for its markets, bars and music venues. The Regent’s Canal runs through the north part of Camden Town, trips along the canal are very popular among tourists as it’s a great way to see the area. Average prices in the Camden area start at about £500,000 for a flat, £2m for a semi and £1m for a terrace property. Though these prices are only averages, Camden is a very popular spot due to its alternative culture and internationally renowned music and theatre venues as well as hugely popular markets and bars.
Kensington
Kensington is a district just slightly west of Central London. It is a densely populated area of London and is renowned for its museums in the south of the district. On and around Exhibition Road within Kensington is the world famous Natural History Museum, The Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal College of Art, to name but a few. As you may expect houses prices in the area do vary - the average price for a flat in the central London borough would be £1m and about £3m for a terraced property. Detached and semi detached properties are scarce, but if you were to find one you could be looking at anywhere between £5.5m and £7.5m.
Greenwich
Located on the South East London border is Greenwich. It has a wealth of historical value and attracts tourists from all over the globe. Greenwich is host to many attractions including the National Maritime Museum, The Old Royal Navy College, Queens House and The Royal Observatory. Average prices on property aren’t quite as bad as you would expect – a flat averages £300,000, a terraced property at £500,000 and a detached house, about £1m.
Westminster
Westminster resides in the heart of central London, it lies on the north bank of the River Thames. Its buildings and monuments are steeped in history such as the Palace of Westminster, West Minster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. This part of London has one of the highest rates of tourism than anywhere else in the city, with various tours to choose from: whether its following the Thames downstream by boat or crossing Tower Bridge on an open-topped double decker bus. House prices in the area vary - for a semi detached it would be about £2.5m whereas a flat would be just over £700,000.
London 2012 Olympics
In the summer of 2012 England is set to host the Olympic Games. Not only is this helping tourism and the economy throughout the country, but leading up to the games local properties saw a significant increase in value.
As a direct result of the Olympics, London property prices are on the up: in Newham where the Olympics ‘Athlete Village’ is currently under construction, the surrounding area has seen prices peak at 7% higher than the local average. Hackney and Greenwich have seen an increase of over 3% for the average price of the area. According to economists and the property website Rightmove, property prices are set to increase further as we get closer to the games.
Hotels and rentable accommodation are already seeing huge surges of bookings since the ticket prices were announced.
